WA DeMolay Galloping Gavel

What is it?

Washington DeMolay’s Galloping Gavel
is a program that will be used to increase traveling within the jurisdiction. This will encorage traveling and turn travel into
a type of friendly competition.

Traveling is something that many say is the reason they are as active as they are. This will not only help strengthen bonds within a Chapter but also, it will help people see how other Chapters do certain things and what can be improved on in their own home Chapter. In addition, this will help in strengthening the bonds between our brothers no matter where they are from.

The RULES!
Takes 2 DeMolay's and 1 Advisor all from the same Chapter to steal the Gavel.

Goals and Rules

Program Goal:
  1. Have the gavel switch 10 times throughout the term.
  2. Promote Social Media Posts    about individual Chapters getting the gavel.
  3. Allow bonds to be created between members from other Chapters.
 Equalizing Method:
To make this a fair competition between the different Chapters there have been rules put in place to allow Chapters of all sizes to win the competition. The most important of which is the formula to calculate who has won the gavel if more than one Chapter is eligible.

The Formula is:
(# of DeMolays + # of Advisors) x # of Miles Traveled = Total points

All distance will be regulated by a document found on the State Website. This will have the one-way distance from each Chapter to another. This will guarantee that no Chapter may argue with another regarding the distance traveled.
