DeMolay - An Organization Like No Other

Picture
What does it take in today’s world to lay the foundation for a young man to learn the skills to be successful in life?  Parents are looking for programs that offer needed life skills and social interaction while providing a broad range of activities that will engage and interest their son.

Since 1919, DeMolay has a positive track record of providing character building and developing leadership skills in tandem with athletic, social, and service oriented activities.

In DeMolay, we empower our youth to take ownership of their organization and develop a program that will build interest for the members.

Through this personal ownership in their program, DeMolay strives to achieve four key goals for every young man:

Character Development
Leadership Development
Responsibility and Accountability
Mental, Moral, and Emotional Fitness

The Methods of DeMolay

To achieve our goals of personal development, DeMolay uses the following techniques:
Picture
• Chapter Concept. The organizational unit of a DeMolay program. Leaders are elected by the Chapter members.

• Youth Led - Not Adult Led. DeMolays take the lead. Adults are there to keep them safe.

• DeMolay ideals as expressed in Ceremonies. By participating in our ceremonies, DeMolays build confidence in public speaking.

• Balanced Program of Activities, Events and Projects. Learning, serving, and having fun.

• The Obligatory Days. Seven service activities to give back to the community.

• Honors and Awards. Earn awards for activities inside and outside of DeMolay.

• Leadership Training. Opportunities for leadership education occur at the local Chapter, State, and National Conferences.

• A Positive Adult and Youth Association.  Dedicated adults (Advisors) willing to work with and mentor the young men

Affordable Program. To join DeMolay, members pay an affordable one-time life membership fee. Chapters work to raise funds for their activities to minimize out of pocket expenses.

Positive Co-ed Interactions
Although DeMolay is a program for young men, DeMolay is associated with two programs for young women: Rainbow for Girls and Job’s Daughters. Interaction among the three youth programs is common and frequent.  DeMolays are expected to always be respectful toward women and will learn to interact with them as peers and equals.

Family Involvement
DeMolay works best when parents get involved. Most of our activities are open to the entire family and we encourage their involvement. In fact, we want Parents to attend everything possible. We strongly encourage parents to attend the ceremonies when their son joins to understand what DeMolay is about and the promises he will make. Don’t miss out on this important time in your son's life.
